Many of us need help organising our money and making sure we have enough money to pay our bills and feed our whanau. Budgeting is a service the Ngaruawahia Community House has provided for many years in conjunction with the Ministry of Social Development to provide a free service to help individuals and families reach their financial goals. In 2017 this service underwent some changes and was renamed Building Financial Capability. The bases of the service is still the same, we have just added some new features to meet the changing needs of people.
BFC is a range of services that help people, families and whānau build their financial capability and resilience. BFC takes a strengths-based approach to support people to get control of their money, set goals and achieve long-term, sustainable change.
Your Financial Mentor (previously Budget Advisor) will support you to set financial goals and help you create a pathway towards achieving them. The first step towards this is identifying your goals then creating a budget to achieve them. A budget is a plan that simply shows what money you expect to receive and how you expect to spend it.
